The schools of Malinagar

"जब आस-पास एक ही स्कूल था, मलीनगर ने अपना बना लिया।"

When Pusa High School was the only school in the area, Malinagar built its own. Today the village has a +2 high school, a model middle school that anchors the whole cluster, primary schools in the tolas and a CBSE English-medium school. This page is every one of them, with what the records say and what we remember.

Krishna Dev High School is one of the oldest high schools in the area. Before it, Pusa High School across the river was the only one, and the blog's author remembers that several relatives studied there before Malinagar got its own. For decades, children walked here from a dozen surrounding villages.

The school was made by its principal, Sh. Haribhajan Thakur, a strict disciplinarian remembered for setting a standard of teaching and of governance that a whole generation measured itself against. He passed away in November 2019. The teachers we still name:

Counted as one of the model middle schools of the neighbourhood, and painted in the yellow and purple of the state's Adarsh scheme. Most of us learned our tables here, our first English words, and the first Bhojpuri geet for the Saraswati Puja programme. The village's Saraswati Puja murti goes up in its courtyard every Magh, and the Janmashtami fancy-dress has been held here for decades.

The UDISE register has more schools under the M.S. Malinagar cluster (codes 10191910002 to 10191910009) that we have not yet been able to read online. If your tola has a Prathmik Vidyalaya, send its name and a photo of the gate.

Inaugurated on 9 April 2010, the first CBSE senior-secondary school in the village, with transport that brings children from Pusa and the villages around. For families who once sent children to Samastipur or Muzaffarpur for English-medium schooling, it means the children sleep at home.
